Topic: Homeless life/culture/people

I plan on going downtown this weekend to see what kind of footage i can get in the afternoon.
Im going to need a lot of b-roll footage:
urban areas
buildings
driving
run down streets/alleys
graffiti
"thugzz"
overlook of the city
people talking on street corners
soup kitchens

I am also going to need a lot of different kinds of music.
For some scenes i need sentimental/sad music:
-My friend offered to play soft acoustic for me to record
-Sharon Van Etten
-Andrew Jackson Jihad
-XXYYXX
-Nujabes
I also will need ambient/mellow music for the scenes where the person im interviewing is talking
-Animal Collective
-Tokimonsta
-Royksopp
-The Gorillaz (The D sides album)
Lastly, i will need urban music for the scenes talking about the city life
-Group home
-souls of mischief
-tupac

I was originally going to just approach homeless people on the street. It might be smarter to go to a soup kitchen, and then throw in some 1 on 1 interviews from the street interviews.
Maybe some footage of what random people on the street think of homeless people.
I think this scene will be reaaallly important because it goes with the overall theme of homeless culture/how they are perceived vs. how they perceive the world.

1. Many struggles come with this life
2. Perceived in the world as "alcoholic" and "drug addicts"
3. Many untold stories are within them
4. Something horrible got them in this situation
5. Are in need
6. Many must beg to survive
7. Must hunt for places to sleep
8. Have to avoid the "predators" at night whoever that may be
9. Many must travel and change their location constantly
10. A lot of them have loose connections with family and friends
11. They have to carry all their belongings on them at once
12. A lot of them have mental problems
13. Seen as "dirty"
14. People avoid them on the streets
15. Collect change $$$

Documentary Ideas

My ideas for the documentary are still up in the air right now, but some ideas i've thought about that seem the most interesting are:

-homeless life:
what it's like, how certain people got to that point, what goes on in their day to day life.
I think that there are so many stories living within people on the streets, and no one gets to hear them.
There is so much character within homeless people. Although some got themselves into that lifestyle, I think they are still full of experience and stories.

-poetry slam:
inside the life of a dedicated poetry slam artist
